TRAINING IN CHILE ...

The Chilean Mining Industry has recently been making the news with the miraculous rescue of trapped mining engineers from the San Jose mine in Copiapo, Chile. Not so far away, at the Candeleria mine 30 minutes from Copiapo, A&E engineer Steve Edwards has been training personnel to use Enviropeel for mine owners, Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc (FMI). The sale of the Enviropeel equipment was organised through A&E’s Argentinean distributor, Laiken. Steve, who flew into Chile from A&E’s Australian Office, was training on behalf of the A&E US office which has responsibility for A&E products throughout the Americas.

A&E FORGES LINKS WITH MALAYSIAN UNIVERSITY

With its new training centre and a history of vocational development, the A&E Group is keenly aware of the need for links with centres of excellence and learning. A recent MOU signing with UniKL Malaysian Institute of Marine Engineering (UniKL MIMET) recognised the benefit of bringing together the ‘real-world’ experience of A&E and the technical expertise of MIMET, forging a partnership to facilitate the exchange of expertise, facilities and technical knowledge for the purpose of R&D, innovation, consultancy, teaching and training. The Group intends to make links with a number of institutions around the world to promote better understanding of corrosion issues and solutions.

Signing and exchanging MoU documents are A&E Group CEO, Arthur Haycox and UniKL President/CEO, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Abdul Hakim Juri.
